Star league battlecruiser emerges out of the mists of time
By A Customer
This is the first major strike against the Clan homeworlds, following a trail blazed by the Smoke Jaguar defector in the first of the "Twilight of the Clans" series. A huge fleet is assembled, with dozens of ships, including transports and the Inner Core's best warships. Even some new Frigates built using recaptured Star League technology. But most chilling and impressive is the emergence of a 300-year-old Star League battle cruiser-- it had been hidden and hoarded for centuries by Com Star for just such a grand and glorious battle. By far the largest warship in the fleet, and probably the largest in space for that era. Wow! There is one naval engagement with a Ghost Bear fleet, to whet our appetite for action, but the REAL action is building toward the sequel. Think of this novel as "Part 1." Here's good character building, good plot, and good action. Helps forget the stasis and total lack of action of the preceding volume in this series. The Hunters is highly recommended ! ! !

A relatively good book for a new author.
By A Customer
This book followed the others in the Twilight of the Clans series. The story started out with an exciting, yet unrealistic, attack that a DEST team launched on a Clan outpost. From there, it moves to the planet (the name escapes my mind) where Task Force Serpent (the task force that is to take Huntress, the homeworld of the Smoke Jaguars) is training. The author goes on to describe a few training exercises. Then they leave the Inner Sphere, travelling via a secret route, into the heart of Clan space. A couple of monthes into their long journey, they encounter a few Ghost Bear warships. The battle is very detailed and well written. Soon after, they approach their destination. But all is not well...before they can get there, the crew is halted by the assassination of...
Come on, you didn't think I'd give it away, did you? Sorry. You're gonna have to read it for yourself.

Marred by Author's Mistakes
By A Customer
If this novel wasn't such a central part of the TotC series I would hesitate to recommend it. The pleasure I got from this novel was seriously marred by the multiple mistakes I discovered. Space prohibits me from pointing out more than the two worst: The route of Task Force serpent is supposed to be top secret yet the map shows it drops by at the capital system of the Outworlds Alliance. Second, the DEST boarding action was laughable (and unnecessary) and really made me wish the author had bothered to think it through what close combat in zero-G would be like. To be fair, if you do not have an indepth knowledge of the BT universe or can otherwise overlook the mistakes the novel is undoubtedly enjoyable. My rating is an average between the two viewpoints (3 and 7).
